Rio Vista Chamber of Commerce Announces New Direction for the Bass Derby

Rio Vista, CA — The Rio Vista Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors is announcing a renewed focus on the Bass Derby, one of Rio Vista's longest-standing traditions and a cornerstone of our Delta heritage.

Beginning this year, the Chamber will concentrate its efforts on enhancing and growing the Bass Derby fishing tournament, which will take place on the first weekend of October. As part of this renewed focus, Chamber-produced fireworks and food and craft vendor areas will not be included in the 2026 event. This change allows the Chamber to direct its resources toward strengthening the fishing tournament and ensuring its long-term success.

Originally founded as a fishing tournament, the Bass Derby has attracted anglers and visitors to Rio Vista for generations. By focusing our volunteer resources and organizational efforts on the tournament itself, we believe we can increase participation, enhance the overall experience, and build a stronger foundation for the future.

Bass Derby weekend will remain an exciting community tradition. Visitors can continue to enjoy live music, local restaurants, shopping, community gatherings, and the Annual Lions Club Breakfast and Car Show while experiencing the welcoming small-town atmosphere that has made Derby weekend a favorite for generations.

The Chamber remains committed to supporting local businesses, promoting tourism, and preserving the traditions that make Rio Vista a special place to live, work, and visit.
